Being a big fan of WyzeCam, I was very excited when I heard about the WyzeCam V2 and quickly pre-ordered one with the expectation it would ship at the end of February or beginning of March. Well today I received and email informing me that due to a manufacturing issue there has been a delay.
The WyzeCam V2 uses a new CMOS sensor with CSP packaging. This new sensor apparently has more stringent manufacturing tolerances which were not adhered too. This cost specs of dust to find there way onto the sensor.
On final inspection the WyzeCam team found this flaw on some cameras and rather than force them out into the market the decision was made to scrap this batch of cameras and start manufacturing again. I have to say I commend this, it takes a lot to make that decision and I am sure a lot of companies especially ones the size of WyzeCam would have pushed the cameras out and then dealt with anyone who complained of the issue on a one off basis. On top of that for the delay they are offering a 5 foot extension cable free of charge with every camera ordered.
In my opinion we need more compatible WyzeCam willing to step up to the plate and handle an issue before product finds its way to customers.
