Amazon today announced that it would be expanding its FreeTime parental control and child content system to include Echo Devices. Having a small son and being an Amazon Alexa lover, this is great new to me. I already have a FreeTime Unlimited Subscription that covers tablet usage for me so why no continue this onto the numerous Alexa Enabled Devices in my home?
In addition to FreeTime coming to Echo Devices, Amazon is also releasing the Echo Dot Kids Edition with a $79.99 price point. So the first thing you will ask is what does an extra $30 get me (over the $49.99 Echo Dot) and really all you will see is that it gets you a nice colorful rubber case to help “kid” proof the Echo Dot. But when you dig in you get a heck of a lot for your money.
Now where I already have a FreeTime UnlimitedSubscription (and an Alexa Device in every room in my home) this really is not much of a value for me, so I will be skipping the Echo Dot Kids Edition for now. But if you were already looking at getting a FreeTime UnlimitedSubscription (even if you do not need another Echo Dot) this is where the value is as it comes in cheaper than the subscription by itself.
