Alexa and Cortana Walk Into a Bar

ca - 1.png

Amazon and Microsoft have been hard at work integrating Alexa and Cortana. A few months ago this integration went into its limited private beta and today it became publicly available to users in the United States.

This is an early, still beta experience and not all functionality is available but you can summon Alexa from a Windows 10 machine to do things like check on your Amazon Orders, play a game or add things to your Amazon Shopping list. All you need to do is say “Cortana, Open Alexa” and insert your command. Alternatively from an Amazon Echo you can say “Alexa, Open Cortana” to do things like check your outlook calendar or send emails.

I am not entirely sure how I feel about this integration as I do not use Cortana very much on my Windows machines but perhaps this will get me to use it more as I constantly use my Amazon Echo for things.

Have you tried the Alexa, Cortana integration yet? Let me know how it worked for you in the comments below.
