Amazon has been adding some useful video oriented Skills to their lineup of Echo Devices with video displays consisting of the Echo Show, Echo Spot, Fire TV and Kindle Fire Tablets. We have had the ability to view live video from our Amazon Cloud, Arlo, August and Ring cameras for some time now, but we have not been able to access recorded events. Well finally Amazon has given us the ability to access these, and I am excited. We can now say things like “Alexa, Show me the last event at my doorbell” and be able to view the recorded video. This is a great addition to these Skills which some of us are already using although it is not perfect.
In my opinion we currently have one big limitation, we have no way of asking for a specific event. I would love to be able to say “Alexa, Show me the event from October 21st 2015 from my doorbell” but I can’t, and if you get that reference you are a geek like me. I can only hope that this functionality is coming in future updates as I feel it is needed for viewing of recorded events to be a useful feature.
Has anyone tried watching recorded video events on an Echo Device? Let me know your experience in the comments below.
