I have quite a few Wyze Cam Products and anyone who is a regular reader should know I have been very happy with them since day one. For the price, they can not be beaten in the camera space. Because I have a good number of them and they are very budget friendly I am always looking for new uses and for ways the enhance them and also come up with new uses for them. Since I got my first Wyze Cam I have been playing with different accessories and trying to come up with some of my own to allow the Wyze Cam to perform reliably outside which brings me to today’s product review of the Quarble Wyze Cam Pan Case.
- Quality Rubber Material
- Impact Protection
- Overhangs the front of the Wyze Cam Pan to redirect rain
- Should fit tighter
- Plain looking
I have tried a few different protective cases aimed towards getting your Wyze Cam outside but the Quarble Wyze Cam Pan Case is the first one I am trying with a Wyze Cam Pan. When I first saw the Quarble Wyze Cam Pan Case online I did not have the highest of expectations of it as I expected to receive a thin piece of rubber that did not fit right and added no protection at all. When I received the Quarble Wyze Cam Pan Case and even before I put it on a Wyze Cam Pan I quickly changed my tune. The rubber used to make the Quarble Wyze Cam Pan Case seems to be very good quality and is plenty thick to provide protection.
Putting the Quarble Wyze Cam Pan Case onto the Wyze Cam Pan is as simple as putting a sock on (your foot, not a Wyze Cam), you simply slide the Wyze Cam Pan inside of it. I think to add more protection the fit of the Quarble Wyze Cam Pan Case to the Wyze Cam Pan should be a bit tighter but I am also in no way saying the fit was sloppy. With the Wyze Cam Pan inplace there is very little play which is nice but to me, a rubber sleeve of this nature should fit tight and the Quarble Wyze Cam Pan Case does not.
One thing that I really like about the Quarble Wyze Cam Pan Case is that they have a removable plug on the back of it to cover the USB port on the back of the Wyze Cam Pan and also has cutouts to line up with the speaker. These are nice touches that show that the Quarble Wyze Cam Pan Case was actually designed for the Wyze Cam Pan and not just some repurposed piece of rubber. These design cues also lead you to the feeling of quality with the Quarble Wyze Cam Pan Case.
The Quarble Wyze Cam Pan Case is obviously meant to be an outdoor solution for the Wyze Cam Pan although I am not really sure It can be. While it does protect the body of the Wyze Cam Pan and in my testing kept the indirect rain off of it, it makes no attempt to protect the base and the Micro USB power port of the Wyze Cam Pan. If this were to truly be used outdoors I would want some sort of rubber boot that went over the power cord and then wrapped around the base of the Wyze Cam Pan. That being said however there are other uses for the Quarble Wyze Cam Pan Case.
I am going to continue to use the Quarble Wyze Cam Pan Case but not outdoors. Instead, it is going to go on a Wyze Cam Pan that I have in my family room that mostly my cats hang out in. The cats love to jump up on the shelf that my Wyze Cam Pan is on and brush up against it and knock it onto the floor. My wife says that this is inadvertent and they are only trying the scratch themselves on it but I say it is just the cats trying to be pains in my butt. Anyways the Quarble Wyze Cam Pan Case gives the Wyze Cam Pan some impact protection for when it inevitably hits the floor. In my opinion, the Quarble Wyze Cam Pan Case is most likely better marketed for this use and not for weather protection.
The Quarble Wyze Cam Pan Case is made from quality materials and does provide some value for impact protection, however, I would probably not recommend using it outdoors.
